Earliest Possible Signs of Pregnancy

What Are The Earliest Possible Signs of Pregnancy?

My website visitors often ask me what are the earliest possible signs of pregnancy.

Are you trying to get pregnant and examining every twinge and flutter and gas bubble? I did the same thing! The earliest signs of pregnancy can be misleading because they often are very similar to PMS. They typically occur after you’ve missed your period, so you may not notice these symptoms until about two or more weeks after conception.

Tender, swollen breasts

For me personally this was one of the telltale earliest possible signs of pregnancy. Almost immediately after conception my breasts were killing me!

Fatigue

I managed to negotiate Fridays off work during my first pregnancy because I was sooo tired!

Implantation bleeding

Sometimes you can experience a little implantation bleeding, which seems like spotting.

Nausea or vomiting

When I was pregnant with Trey, I thought I had the flu for eight weeks.

Increased sensitivity to odors

This is one of the most interesting earliest possible signs of pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Hana, I woke up one morning, walked out onto the patio and said, “Something’s on fire!” and sure enough, there was a building on fire twenty blocks away. Seriously, my husband couldn’t detect it at all. You have super powers of smell when you’re pregnant.

Food aversions

These go along with an enhanced sense of smell. You taste things more strongly and therefore can also suddenly not tolerate certain foods that you used to enjoy.

Frequent urination

In other words, you need to pee a lot.

A missed period

Self explanatory, isn’t it? Although sometimes you still have some bleeding so you might think you are not pregnant.

Your basal body temperature stays high

If you were successful at getting pregnant, your temperature stays elevated. This is the best book you can buy on the subject: Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health

A positive home pregnancy test!

Congratulations!

These are some of the earliest possible signs of pregnancy to look out for.
